| PRELUDE TO AVANTGARDE TIROL 2010
OPENING of the Literary Path between the former toll house and the Inn Gate (Inntor) by the Mayors of
Rattenberg and Kramsach and the poet Raoul Schrott.
"PANTA RHEI" ..everything is in a state of flux.. ..art on the river ..ARTRIVER...RIVERART.
WORD
Poetry-promenade with a sell-by date on the river path - on the Inn - in Rattenberg.
Short texts (kindly donated by the Tirol poet RAOUL SCHROTT) are drawn like road markings onto the asphalt of the path.
Literature with a short shelf-life: within a short time it will be worn away by the shoes of its readers..
PICTURE
Vis-á-vis on the riverbank stands a new sculpture by ALOIS SCHILD: RUFEZEICHEN AUS DER SCHEINWELT - EXCLAMATION(MARKS) FROM AN IMAGINARY WORLD,
like an anchor that secures art to Rattenberg - so that it will not flow away from our cultural region, but rather towards it!
Footnote: the Greek philosopher Heraklit von Ephesos taught that all being is realised within the flow of
emergence and passing (pantha rhei): in this „war” of opposites lies the latent intelligence of the world (logos).
Heraklit conceived of the world as eternal, not created, not passing. He expressed this theory of the essence of being partly in mysterious formulae,
partly in images: the most well known is the picture of the river that remains always the same, though its water is constantly
changing (from Lexikon für Österreich in 20 volumes - Duden - ORF). |

| 20.00 (8pm) Rattenberg am Inn Malerwinkel Saal Schlossberg | POETRY READING WITH RAOUL SCHROTT
love lyrics from the Ancient Egyptians to Sappho: with verses of the Nile ..from the canal of the field of the beloved one, to the flood and river bathing.
Love poems from four millenia:
We meet the first love poems in the history of literature in Egyptian Thebes - today Luxor - around 1300 BC.
Hardly known until recently, they show astounding modernity in their display of subjective feelings,
open eroticism and the emancipation of women. From here the arch stretches from Sappho, Catull and Properz to the troubadours,
the arabic poets and the Italian inventers of the love sonnet, to verse of our own time.
Raoul Schrott reads in the original languages and from his own translations, juxtaposing these verses chosen from four millenia with his own poems
and personal commentary.

| MEETING OF THE ECPNM, THE EUROPEAN CONFERENCE OF PROMOTERS OF NEW MUSIC
Not in a European metropolis, but in the smallest town of Austria!
When the ECPNM (European Conference of Promoters of New Music) was founded in 1981 it was a self-help organisation of small festivals.
Since then the ECPNM has grown to represent over 70 festivals and New Music organisations of various sizes.
Whereas in recent years meetings have been held in cities such as Salzburg, Heidelberg, Oslo, Amsterdam or Stockholm, we are delighted that the annual general meeting of the
ECPNM will be held this year in Rattenberg, the smallest town in Austria.
The ECPNM accepts the invitation of "avantgarde tirol", that in 2010 will be held within the entire region of Rattenberg am Inn under the dedicated directorship
of Marianne Penz-van Stappershoef. The central concept of the avantgarde tirol of allowing young composers to develop new works and explore new techniques
under professional guidance - a concept that has proved successful for many years - will this year be "replaced" by the final round of the 3rd European
competition for live electronic projects of the ECPNM. As the "grand finale" of the festival week, an international jury will choose the winning works.
These may be presented by its member organisations in their own festivals.
In the present precarious financial situation throughout Europe, this solidarity between people and organisations dedicated
to the furthering of culture - in this case contemporary music - on a regional, national and European level, takes on an existential importance.
The ECPNM sees itself as a long-term partner of the activities of the avantgarde tirol. Thus the cultural region Rattenberg am Inn - alongside
the European Forum Alpbach for Science, Economics and Politics, now in its 65th year - becomes the European centre of new developments in music.
We are delighted to be part of this - as we hope also other-ECPNM member organisations will be!

VER-WANDLUNGEN
(TRANS-FORMATIONS)
METAMORPHOSES OF SCULPTURES DURING THE PASSAGE OF TIME
An exhibition of sculpture in the Rattenberg Augustine Museum attempts to show ways in which works of art undergo transformation during the course of time.
Transformation has become a theme in itself for the arts of the 21st century, which in the field of wood sculpture goes to show that wood - in itself a malleable
material - has lost none of its fascination. Aron Demetz illustrates this impressively with his sculptures.
Examples of contemporary wood art: works by Aron Demetz, participant in the Biennale 2009 in Venice. |

| EUROPEAN FORUM ALPBACH: „CONSTRUCTION AND REALITY”
TIROL DAY IN CONGRESS ALPBACH
The internationally renowned and successful ensemble Muzyka Centrum from Krakow gives a guest appearance with a concert focussing on modern classics and music of the third millenium.
The concert offers an exciting view on the music of the last century, a music that knows no boundaries between countries or nations,
but was created for the whole world. This music is interpreted by musicians who belong to the best of their speciality and who work
in constant collaboration with centres of New Music, as they have done with avantgarde tirol for many years.
